     As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Iraq, Kosovo, Afganistan, the War on Terrorism or Peace-keeping Expeditionary campaigns.
     Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in our country's freedom. We need YOU to continue the VFW's Mission to assist our country's veterans at the local, district, state, and national levels.

WHO WE ARE
     The VFW is a nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the Active, Guard and Reserve forces. Founded in 1899 and chartered by Congress in 1936, we are the nation's largest organization of war veterans and its oldest major veterans organization.
     With more than 1.6 million VFW and Auxiliary members located in nearly 6,000 Posts worldwide, the VFW and its Auxiliary are dedicated to veterans’ service, legislative advocacy, and military  community service programs.

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where he served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.


There is a new cartoon everyday.

2024-2025 All-State Post

2025-26 All-American Requirements:
The All-American program exists to recognize exceptional leadership and teamwork, authentic accomplishment in membership growth, and participation in VFW core programs.
 All Posts who have met the following criteria as of June 30th, 2026 will be named as  All-American Posts:
- At least 101% in membership, based on adjusted prior year totals DONE.
- Must have a Post election report submitted and be in good standing DONE.
- Must meet the following Program Participation Criteria by January 31, 2026:
    * Voice of Democracy – Completed 3 advanced
    * Patriot’s Pen – Completed 3 advanced
    * Must donate to Veterans & Military Support Programs Services, minimum of $125.
    * Must participate in the VFW Day of Service event held during the month of May.           and registered at todaysvfw.org/day-of-service/ no later than May 15th. 
       Our "Sleep in Heavenly Peace" will count as community service for
       All-American quarterly requirements.
    * A Post must submit a community service report quarterly to their department for submission to the All-American Dashboard.
       The quarters are:
       July-Sept: DONE Patriots Day Party
       Oct-Dec:    DONE 2nd Saturday
       Jan-Mar:   DONE 2nd Saturday
       April-June: Scheduled
                            Sleep in Heavenly Peace building beds
     * Must purchase a minimum of 500 Buddy Poppies.
 
2025-2026 ALL-STATE Additional Requirements
    * At least 103% in membership, based on adjusted prior year totals DONE

VFW POST 2033 AUXILIARY
   We have been authorized to start our  VFW Post Auxiliary and we need 15 New Applicants to get one started.

   If your Husband or Wife, Mother or Father, Grandmother or Grandfather, Brother or Sister served during a war you may qualify.
Applications for our Post Auxiliary can be found here.
 
  Turn in your completed Annual or Life Member Application to VFW Post 2033 at 301 Veterans Way in Woodville, TX 75979.

31st VPR - End of Operation Restore Hope—Somalia 1995
                   The United Nations Operation in Somolia (UNOSOM II) was the second phase intervention that                       took place from March 1993 until March 5, 1995, following them outbreak of the Somolia Civil
                   War in 1991. UNOSOM II carried on from the transitory United States-controlled (UN-sanctioned)
                   Unified Task Force, which had been preceded by UNOSOM I. UNOSOM II embarked on a 
                  nation-building mission, diverging from its predecessors.As delineated in UNSCR 814, the
                  operation's objectives were to aid in relief provision and economic rehabilitation, foster political
                  reconciliation, and reestablish political and civil administrations across Somo;ia.

      Victory in Europe - Germany signed Unconditional Surrender May 8, 1945.
      The day celebrated the formal acceptance by the Allied Powers of World War II of Nazi Germany's
      Unconditional Surrender of its armed forces operations.

6th VPR - D Day
      Allied Invasion of Europe 1944
      Operation Overlord was the code name for the Battle of Normandy, the Allied operation that launched
      the successful liberation of German-occupatied Western Europe during World War II. A 1200-plane
      airborne assault preceded the Amphibious Assault involving more than 5,000 vessels. Nearly 160,000
      troops crossed the English Channel on this day and more than two million Allied troops were in France
      by the end of August.

           Flag Retireent Ceremony at the Post
           Today commemorates the adoption of the Old Glory in 1777, by resolution of the Second
           Continental Congress stating "That the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes
           alternating red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing 
           a new constellation.
